Who They Are 

A busy boutique property management company in Brooklyn is looking for an experienced, upbeat, and motivated property manager to oversee the day-to-day field operations of its growing building portfolio. The ideal candidate has applicable in-the-field property management experience as well as knowledge of HPD, DHCR, and NYC Housing Regulations.

The applicant must have impeccable time management and organizational skills as well as strong customer service/tenant relations skills. A car is required for this role as you will be regularly visiting properties (primarily in Brooklyn).

Specific Responsibilities

  • Proactive inspection of building and exterior common areas, building systems, landscape and other common amenities and then ensure necessary repair and maintenance actives are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain open, positive relationships with tenants and occupants ensuring that all services and needs are met in compliance with leases and agreements.
  • Handle tenant issues and complaints.
  • Request bids for all contracts, repairs and services. Review existing vendors for competitive pricing.
  • Review and approve all invoices and purchase order requests.
  • Coordinate efforts between residents, staff and contractors with regard to special projects and/or construction.
  • Provide status updates to senior management regarding ongoing projects, complaints and issues relating to each building.
  • Investigate, track and cure building violations.
  • Appear at violation hearings when necessary.
  • Conduct inspections of all vacant apartments.
  • Oversee and manage the property management staff such a as super, porter and contractors.

Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 2 years of in the field property management experience
  • Knowledge of HPD, DHCR and NYC housing regulations
  • Superior organizational, record keeping and calendar management skills
  • Strong customer service and tenant relations skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to canvass properties.
  • Knowledge of Yardi is a plus, but not required.
