Reports To: CFO and Senior Director of Finance
Location: Baltimore/D.C. Area – Hybrid (2-days in office) or NYC
Our client is a leading Jewish think tank and educational institution committed to supporting the intellectual, religious, and political leaders of the Jewish people and the Jewish State. They run a wide range of initiatives in America and Israel including educational programs, publications, and fellowships.
The Finance Department is currently seeking a Director of Budgeting and Financial Reporting to serve as a business partner to the Chief Financial Officer, Senior Director of Finance, and division leaders. The Director will be a key player in helping analyze business decisions through actionable reports and projection. He/she will also play a significant role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational success of the organization as one of the leaders of the enterprise-wide budgeting process.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills are crucial to this position, as is the ability to interact with all levels of divisional management. The Director is expected to perform his or her duties with a high degree of integrity and autonomy.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
- Develop tools and reports for budgeting and financial analysis
- Developing formats for different level presentations
- Drafting Board-level reports and presentations
- Drafting management-level reports for division chiefs and program directors
Budgeting
- Together with CFO, lead budgeting process across the enterprise. This includes periodic revised projections of revenues and expenditures.
Accounting
- Research and analyze reports based on the general ledger and make recommendations and/or corrections to the GL
- Process necessary bulk and individual reclassifications of GL transactions
- Update and uploading the budget to the accounting system and produce supporting reports from these systems
- Together with the Senior Director of Finance, ensure that the chart of accounts (and GL segmentation) reflects current business structures and overall best practices
Cross-Team Leadership
- Collaborating with senior officials and staff across the entire organization
- Work with senior staff to create actionable management reports and insights
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience with financial reporting and budgeting
- Highly advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven high integrity and confidentiality
- Advanced experience using Tableau, Solver, DrillPoint or equivalent advanced reporting software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced accounting and/or finance degree preferred but not required
- Experience in the non-profit sector
- Candidates based in the Baltimore/D.C. area
The compensation range for this position is $95,000-$130,000, commensurate with experience and skill. They offer an excellent benefits package including health insurance, 401K plan, paid vacation, paid time off for Jewish and national holidays, and short Fridays.
